The stomach normally
secretes acid that is essential in the digestive process. This acid helps in
breaking down the food during digestion. When there is excess production of
acid by the gastric glands of the stomach, it results in the condition known as
acidity.
Basil
Leaves
The soothing and
carminative properties of basil leaves can give you instant relief from
acidity. At the first sign of gas, eat a few basil leaves or boil 3-4 basil
leaves in a cup of water and let it simmer for a few minutes. Sip on it
frequently.
Cinnamon
It works as a natural
antacid and helps dispel stomach gas.
You can add cinnamon
powder to your soup or salad.
Bananas
Eat a ripe banana for
some relief. You could also eat an overripe banana to beat an especially bad
bout of acidity, as they tend to contain more potassium which makes it the
perfect antidote.
Ginger
Improves digestion and aids in better
absorption and assimilation of essential nutrients. It also protects your
stomach against ulcers by promoting mucus secretion and reducing the effect of
the acid on your stomach.
Jaggery
After all three meals
take a small piece of jaggery and keep it in your mouth and suck to no more
acidity.
Apple
cider vinegar
Take 1 to 2 teaspoons
daily of apple cider vinegar. Its great mixed with honey in tea or instead of
lemon in tea. Vinegar is an acid with a pH of around 5. Therefore
it helps with heartburn by lowering the pH (making it more acidic) of the
stomach contents to improve digestion and reduce the pressure build up we’re
looking to avoid.
