What is low blood pressure?
A blood pressure reading lower than 90 mm Hg over 60 mm Hg is considered to be low blood pressure. Blood pressure can be measured using millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). Low blood pressure, also known as hypo tension, is a condition in which a person’s blood pressure becomes so low. Symptoms of dizziness and lightheartedness when you stand up from sitting or lying down -- with a decrease in your blood pressure -- may indicate a condition called postural hypo tension. There are many ways of reducing low blood-pressure at home by using natural solutions such as herbs, vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients. But you will get the best results if you can know exactly the reason causing your problem and then you can choose the suitable solution for it.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon combined with magnesium, diet and lifestyle changes can lead to an overall reduction in blood pressure. Eating daily cinnamon has been linked to a reduction in high blood pressure in people with diabetes. Include more cinnamon in your sprinkling diet on your cereal and even in your coffee. At dinner, cinnamon enhances the flavor of sauteed vegetables, curries and stews.
Drink more water to help increase blood volume
Not having enough blood in your body could cause low blood pressure. Besides helping raise blood volume, consuming plenty of fluids each day helps avoid dehydration. Men need between 10-13 cups of water a day, and women should get between 8-11 cups.
You probably know people suffering from high blood pressure and hypertension are put on salt-restricted diets. The sodium content in salt can result in the extra fluid build-up in the body, which mixes with the bloodstream. This increase in blood volume also increased blood pressure. While continued high salt consumption is definitely not good for your health, a glass of salted nimbu pani or lassi can work as an amazing quick-fix for low blood pressure.
Milk and almonds
Milk and almonds, both can help regulate and normalize your blood pressure levels. Simply soak five to six almonds overnight. In the morning, peel and grind them into a thick paste. Boil this along with a glass of milk and drink every morning.
Raisins
Raisins have been used in the traditional methods of curing hypo tension. Soak 30 raisins in water overnight. In the morning, eat them one by one and drink the water in which it was soaked. This maintains the blood pressure by fulfilling the nutritional deficiencies in the blood stream. This remedy should be followed for at least a month or two until the symptoms subsides.
Basil
Holy basil has various therapeutic properties that alleviate most of the illness. It is recommended for people with hypotension because it is rich in Vitamin C, magnesium, potassium and pantothenic acid. It also reduces stress and anxiety that ultimately leads to low blood pressure. Extract juice from 10-15 basil leaves and have it along with honey or you can simply chew 3-4 basil leaves in the morning on empty stomach. It is a beneficial home remedy for low blood pressure.
Sip Green Tea
If you’re not a coffee lover or if coffee interrupt your sleeping patterns, then your beverage of choice can be green tea. A cup of green tea contains 25 mg of caffeine, enough to get your heart pumping and improve the blood flow throughout your organism.
Drinking green tea can eventually help increase your blood pressure levels while also fighting the more serious causes such as diabetes, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
Cayenne Pepper Hot Pepper
Cayenne Pepper is probably the fastest way to lower high blood pressure. Cayenne pepper is a powerful vasodilator, which means it helps expand blood vessels and improve blood flow. This effect naturally lowers blood pressure levels by increasing the rate at which blood flows throughout the circulatory system, which in turn takes some of the pressure off arterial walls. Mix one teaspoon of cayenne pepper with half a cup of lukewarm water or mix two tablespoons of raw organic honey with two teaspoons of cayenne pepper; boil them with eight ounces of water and drink when it is warm.
Include vegetables and fruits high in water such as celery, cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes, cabbage as well as watermelon, apples, pears, papaya and pineapple, to name a few.
Sleep, rest and managing stress
Did you know that sleeping better is one of the most underrated, simple and easy things you CAN do to improve your health in general and help in correcting blood pressure imbalances? Sleep lowers inflammation, helps in fatigue / adrenal fatigue recovery, improves mood and attitude so you feel more motivated and energized to pursue and persist in your treatment.
Cross legs while sitting
Crossing the legs while sitting has been shown to increase blood pressure. For people with high blood pressure, this can be a problem.
For people with low blood pressure symptoms, crossed legs may help increase blood pressure with minimal effort.
Avoid sudden position changes
Sitting up or standing up rapidly can cause a feeling of lightheadedness, dizziness, or potential fainting in people with low blood pressure.
In these cases, the heart has not pumped enough blood through the body quickly enough to account for the sudden change in position or elevation.
